Mt. View Bakery Stone Cookies
Mt. View Bakery is a small family-run business that's been around since 1936. They're a Big Island institution and their Stone Cookies are an island favorite omiyage (or present).
Stone cookies were created by founders Shigeru and Takeyo Kotomori. They were depression-era cookies made with ingredients that were readily available at that time.
As the name implies, these cookies are much harder than regular cookies. They have a texture similar to biscotti. If you find them too hard to bite into, they can be dipped in coffee or tea to soften.
